In the aftermath of the assembly elections, former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad took a subtle jab at the Congress and its allies, attributing their poor performance to the controversy surrounding 'Sanatana Dharma.' Prasad praised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he termed a "landslide victory" and credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah.
The remarks come in the wake of ally Udaynidhi Stalin's statement advocating the "eradication" of Sanatana Dharma, a sentiment that drew criticism and condemnation. BJP chief JP Nadda accused the Congress and the INDI Alliance, which includes the DMK, of strategizing the attack on Sanatana Dharma.
Nadda questioned the constitutional right to make objectionable comments against any religion and called for clarity from Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Abusing Sanatana Dharma was bound to have it’s consequences .
